Teddy was born in Bootle, on the outskirts of Liverpool,

He
played in the Football League for New Brighton, Southport
and Wigan Borough before coming to the United States to
play for the New York Giants in 1928. At first he played for the Giants in the Eastern Soccer
League and then in the American Soccer League helping the
club win the 1931 championship. In 1932 he signed with the newly formed New York
Americans of the re-formed American Soccer League and in
1933 was on the team beaten in the U.S. Open Cup Final by
St. Louis Stix, Bear and Fuller. In 1934 he joined another ASL team, New York
Brookhattan and played for them for six years. He was a member of the ASL All-Star team that
played against the Scottish F.A. touring team in 1935.
During the early years of World War Two he played in the
German American League for Pfaelzer SC, and before
retirement for Brooklyn SC. In 1930 he married Grace, the daughter of James
Armstrong who was the secretary of the United States
Soccer Football Association from 1931 to 1943.
