Larry
graduated from the University of Massachusetts in 1927 and soon
after became the universities first soccer coach, a position he
held for 37 years.

As professor of physical
education at U-Mass he also coached many other sports with great success. A
founder member of the New England Intercollegiate Soccer League, he served
as that organization's secretary for four years, joined the National Soccer
Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) in its first year and was NSCAA
president in 1947. He was also the moving force behind the formation of the
National Intercollegiate Soccer Officials of America (NISOA).
