Enzo Magnozzi


Emigrated to the United States in 1930 at the age of ten and lived in Greenwich Village where his father owned a restaurant.

He immediately began playing soccer and three years later signed with the Portuguese F.C. playing in the Brooklyn League. From 1931 to 1951 he played professional soccer in four countries including the U.S., Canada, Italy and Cuba, winning the Metropolitan New York League championship with the Flatbush Wanderers in 1938. From 1938 Magnozzi played for the Swiss F.C., Newark F.C., Hoboken, and the German-Hungarians of the German-American League. In the American Soccer League he played for Paterson Caledonians, New York Brookhattan and New York Hakoah. His playing days over he founded the Inter Soccer Club in 1960 and in 1963 his team merged with Giuliana, the oldest Italian-American team in the country. Later he became a promoter and was instrumental in staging many important games in New York involving well known teams from around the world.
